Apple has started testing a feature that would let iPhone and iPad users install programs from outside the App Store. The function is only available in Europe due to new EU laws.

Device information in iOS 17.4 beta 1 provides a new regional identification. Apple also provided contactless and NFC device identification security settings. Changes are made to conform with EU requirements.
Thus, iPhones running iOS 17.4 beta may install third-party applications and app shops. Apple provided over 600 APIs for developers, enabling additional payment and security choices without Apple’s services.
The European version of iOS lets payment firms utilize the NFC chip, modify the default browser, and enable third-party online tools.
iOS 17.4 beta also adds a toggle icon for Podcast text, a slight change to the Music interface, an option to enable device theft protection when away from safe areas, and Siri’s ability to respond to messages in multiple languages, but not Vietnamese.
The App Store began in 2008 and became the most popular app store worldwide. software Store business models, like Apple’s 30% fee on software sales, have also been challenged. Apple was sued by Epic Games, Spotify, and others for this reason.
The App Store earns $24 billion in Europe, 6% of its worldwide income. Apple’s third-party iOS app launch might affect the European app industry.
